Who We Are
The Association of the Representatives of Ethical Pharmaceutical Industries (AREPI) – an umbrella association of multinational pharmaceutical companies operating in Ghana – was established in 1991 with the following objective:
To be a unified research-based pharmaceutical industry association that is credible, sought-after, and respected by key stakeholders in the public and private healthcare sectors, and that is focused on building an environment for sustainable access to quality healthcare.
Mission
To promote policies, dialogues and initiatives that encourage the discovery of and access to medicines and vaccines in Ghana.
Vision
To be the voice for biopharmaceutical innovation and health progress in Ghana.
Objective
To be a unified research-based pharmaceutical industry association that is credible, sought-after, and respected by key stakeholders in the public and private healthcare sectors, and is focused on building an environment for sustainable access to quality healthcare.

Innovative
To drive access to innovative medicines for all Ghanaians.
Professional Standards
To effect Professional Standards and protection of patient interests (via AREPI Code of Marketing).
Knowledge Development
To support knowledge enhancement, professional development and capacity building for healthcare professionals and employees of member companies.
Networking
To provide a network and professional support to employees of member companies.
Governance
The governance of AREPI, its mandate and the regulation of the conduct of its members are set out in the AREPI Constitution. Each member company has a seat on the Membership Council which is responsible for the management and control of affairs and interests of the Association. The day-to-day governance and operations of the Association are executed by the Executive Secretary under the supervision of the elected Executive Committee with support from the standing committees.

Membership Information
AREPI membership is largely made up of research-based entities and their representatives and/ or employees in Ghana. All members are expected to abide by the Association’s ethical code.
Affiliations
AREPI is a recognized member of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (IFPMA), making it the third country on the continent to be affiliated to IFPMA. Among other benefits, affiliation with the IFPMA enables guiding principles on ethical conduct and pharmaceutical promotion and communications for members under their Code of Practice.
